Remote Online Notarization
Colorado has a new law that allows notaries to notarize documents without meeting the signer of the document in person, through a procedure for remote, online notarization.
Littleton Mobile Notary is now providing remote, online notary services. Here's how it works:
1. Contact us to make an appointment. Before our meeting, you email the document to me (in PDF or Word format) so I can prepare it for electronic signature and notarization. I'll send you information about the online notarization process and a link to a short video explaining how it works.
2. We meet by Zoom (using your computer or a mobile device like a smart phone or tablet). First, the system takes you through a brief procedure to securely verify your identity. Then you click on a link you'll get by email to open the document. The system will guide you through the document, indicating how to place your electronic signature on it.
3. I watch you sign the document, then I place my electronic signature and notary stamp on it. You'll be able to easily download the notarized document in PDF format.
4. Special rules for wills. If you need to have a will or codicil notarized, this cannot be done by remote online notarization. We will need to meet in person. I am happy to come to your home or office or meet you at a public place. We can notarize the document while wearing masks and taking other necessary precautions.
Fees
The fee for notarizing a document remotely is $10 per document notarized. To cover the cost and time of preparing the documents for digital signature and using the special system through which we meet online, verify your identity, and electronically sign and notarize the document, I add a handling fee of $30 for the first document and $15 for each additional document. So the total cost is $40 for one document, $65 for two, and so on. For a large set of documents such as a real estate closing, please contact me and we can agree on a flat fee.
Payment can be made by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, creidt or debit card, or any other online payment service.
If you are working in a hospital or as a first responder, I will be happy to provide notary services for you at a deep discount that only covers my costs.
If you have any questions about remote online notarization, or if you would like to make an appointment, please contact me at 303-918-1724 or littletonmobilenotary@gmail.com. Thanks!
